Dating Apps and Modern Life

I've always hated dating apps. Everything about them is so fake. People want instant gratification, instant attraction and instant connection.

Eye roll.

I meet enough people from the internet for my job for me to want to use the same method in my personal life. And I screen very, very carefully before I actually meet anyone. You can't do this as easily with the dating apps as the whole scene has a very different process.

One of my favourite regulars came to see me last week and he told me a story of two young professionals of the opposite sex sitting next to each other on a bus. Both were scrolling through a dating app, deeply engrossed in their phones. And they even got off at the same stop and went opposite ways.

Whatever happened to meeting people in real life anymore? Society is seems is unable to function without a phone.
