Red Flags

In this occupation, I am very aware of red flags. I monitor everything that goes on, so it's pretty easy to decide whether or not I am happy to see someone. But every now and then it's hard to decide whether to brush someone aside or let the situation play out.

This happens more in my personal life than at work and when these situations do arise, I can spend quite a bit of time pondering. I hate missing opportunities as I'm sure most people do, but the real question is whether or not the opportunity will turn out to be positive or negative.

So I make my decision usually based upon two factors. How much it's potentially going to cost me emotionally- is it going to drain my mental health? Or how does the opportunity allow for my personal growth and will that be of benefit to me?

Obviously, I don't have access to a crystal ball when such situations present themselves so I have to use my best judgement. And sometimes it's right and sometimes it's wrong. And that's just life.
